Those of us involved in the legislative/political advocacy arena have the pleasure of listening to many speeches. Most of the speakers could be classified as a cure for insomnia. But some are fairly good, and a few are excellent. And, occasionally we are blessed with the joy of hearing a master at work. Pat Hurley is one of the masters. He has an amazing ability to hold any audience enthralled, whether that be a group of business people or bunch of fidgety junior high school students. As a motivational speaker, teacher, humorist and entertainer, Pat is unexcelled.

Recently Pat Hurley was the featured guest at one of our church-wide functions. There were people of all ages present for his presentation. He had the audience in the palm of his hand from the first sentence he spoke. He was hilarious and the people loved him, immediately. If there is one thing that stands out as most notable, it would be Pat’s uncanny ability to appeal to children as young as six and seven years of age and at the same time keep his adult audience laughing. Pat’s humor is so clean it’s impeccable. Nothing less would be expected from someone who has obviously dedicated himself to the service of Jesus Christ. So beside his wonderful comedy, Pat is a student of the Word.

Foothills Church was recently blessed with having Pat Hurley as a guest speaker. While billed as a "Christian Comedian", Pat delivered much more than jokes and stories. He came across as a skilled teacher of the Word, showing us how to get more out of our own scripture reading. Then he challenged us to "ACT" upon his lesson - getting us out of our comfort zones.
